Program Description
The Idaho State University College of Pharmacy offers a one-year
residency in drug information. This training program is designed
for those individuals who want to pursue publication in the biomedical
literature, develop mastery of skills and attain an expert level
of competency in the provision of drug information. The successful
candidate will gain experience in:
· Provision of drug information and pharmaceutical care
consultation services to health care professionals and patients
· Preparation and publication of drug consults, drug
information analysis service rounds articles, and case studies
· Drug information web site development
· Teaching first professional year drug information classes
and labs
· Teaching drug information to nontraditional PharmD
students
· Teaching third professional year case studies
· Precepting fourth professional year drug information
clerkships
· Development of an online drug information newsletter
· Administration of an academic drug information service
Training Site
The Idaho Drug Information Service is located on the top floor
of Idaho State University's Oboler Library in Pocatello, Idaho.
This service provides pharmaceutical care consults and drug information
to physicians, pharmacists, and laypersons throughout the state
of Idaho.
Qualifications
The applicant must be a US citizen, hold a PharmD degree from
an ACPE-accredited institution, and be eligible for pharmacy licensure
in the state of Idaho.
Pocatello
The city of Pocatello is nestled in the western foothills of
the Rocky Mountains in southeast Idaho - a two- to three-hour
drive puts you on the doorstep of world class resorts (Sun Valley,
Grand Targhee, Jackson Hole, and Park City), scenic vacation spots
(Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park, Sawtooth National
Recreation Area, Island Park, Bear Lake and more), and Salt Lake
City. A wide variety of recreational and sightseeing opportunities
abound in and around Pocatello. Within a 30-mile radius, you can
enjoy skiing at Pebble Creek, hot tubbing at Lava Hot Springs,
as well as excellent areas for fishing, hiking, rock climbing,
cross-country skiing and snowmobiling.
Information
Applications for the drug information residency should be received
by March 31, 2001. Candidates should submit a letter of interest
describing their professional goals, a curriculum vitae, a sample
of their writing skills (a paper or article), and the names of
three professional references to:
