SETTLING IN STANDING STONE WHERE HE FOLLOWED FARMING He was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. settling in Standing Stone where he followed farming and continued to reside till his death. He married in 1814, Phoebe, daughter of Aachatias and Jane ( Oakley ) Vought of Rome. He received a common school education and farmed for his father till he was 24 when his father gave him 50 acres of land. He built a log home in 1815 and lived in it till 1844 He built a frame house and lived in it and farmed till he died 20 Feb 1879 |
