From PAINESVILLE TELEGRAPH 23 Feb 1860 Capt Abraham Skinner was politically active with Cromwell. When Charles assended to power and Cromwell lost out, the Skinners thought it best to come to America.Along with Col Ebinezer Paine in 1798 bought 3240 acres of land. He returned to Ct. and in 1803 returned to Ohio and built a house and barn and laind out the town of New Market with Paine, his associate.He then returned to Ct and in 1805 brought his family to Ohio. The family consisted of his wife and five children and 2 hires men . They came by sleigh.
He was in the Revolutionary War and went to Boston in the Lexington Alarm.
He was buried in the Old Washington Street Cemetery and the body and stone were moved to the Evergreen Cemetery.
