Dr. Xu is an Assistant Professor and Director of Graduate Programs at the Dept. of Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Science (BPSCI) under the ISU College of Pharmacy.

Dr. Xu has a PhD in Computational Science from San Diego State University and postdoctoral training at the University of California, San Diego.

For professional pharmacy curriculum, Dr. Xu teaches Basic Pharmacokinetics and Pharmaceutical Calculations (P1 year), Physicochemical Basis of Drug Action (P1 year), Introduction to Clinical Problem Solving (P1 and P2 years), and Capstone Pharmacy (P3 year)

For BPSCI graduate curriculum (MS and PhD), Dr. Xu teaches Computer Aided Drug Discovery I, Computer Aided Drug Discovery II, Critical Literature Evaluation, Responsible Conduct in Research, Scientific Communications, and BPSCI Graduate Research Seminars. 

Dr. Xu's research group pursues a broad range of multi-disciplinary and transnational projects in the areas of molecular-targeted therapeutics design, patient-centered pharmaceutical outcomes, and drug-induced toxicity prediction. His research is empowered by high-performance computing and high-dimensional data analytics. Dr. Xu has been funded by NIH IDeA Mountain West CTR Research Grant (2 years), Idaho Beef Council Research Grant (2 years), L.S. Skaggs Foundation Research Award (collaboratin with University of Colorodo Denver Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences), and ISU Faculty Research Grant.

Dr. Xu is an active member of the American Chemical Society, American Association for the Advancement of Science, American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists.
